Helping The Community

Laundry Love Supply Drive

May 22, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a Christ-centered community serving through word and action.
May is here, and it finally feels like Spring! One of the most time-honored traditions of this season is ‘spring cleaning’, a chance to cleanse and refresh our home and our space. Yet for many in Goldsboro, this tradition is beyond their reach. They struggle to meet the basic needs of rent and food for themselves and their families, much less enjoy the benefits of a good deep spring cleaning. This is where Good Shepherd  and Laundry Love of Goldsboro come together to help low and no income individuals and families meet the basic human need for clean clothes and bedding.
We recently received the following email from Laundry Love:
Our major need is funding to keep the washers and dryers going. Our patrons, especially our homeless population, also have been very appreciative of the hygiene kits and food packets.
Every bit helps and we appreciate the kindness of your congregation.

Let’s come together again in this season of renewal and help Laundry Love help people to refresh with clean clothes, and food and hygiene kits.
We will be having our next supply drive on Saturday May 22 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Laundry Love has recently received a very large donation of detergent and bleach, and is NOT in need of these items. (We are stocked with plenty of utensils and gallon bags)
Please help us to supply them with the following:

  • Money to pay for the washers and dryers. This can be done at any time with a check, using Laundry Love in the memo line, and we will accept money during the drive.

  • Also, to prepare the food and hygiene kits we need:

    • Small sizes of shampoo, soap, toothpaste, single pack toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, deodorant, razors, combs

    • Snack size food; granola, nabs, Vienna sausages, any pop-top meals, fruit snacks, raisins, anything else that is easy to open and will fit in the gallon bags

    • Cases of water, any size bottles

    • Napkins

Please reach out to Sue Peacock or Lisa Douglas with any questions.
Laundry Love can also be reached on the web at: or on their Facebook Page, Laundry Love of Goldsboro.
