The last few days I have been making use of an electronic application on my phone. Yes, I know it is a little weird, but for all the work that a phone generates—it also can be a tool to develop mindfulness. (You know, an opportunity to slow down and think intentionally about gratitude, to pray, and make time with God.)
This morning’s meditation was on gratitude for the little things…like electricity that connects us with family and friends, the world and with useful tools for communication. The safe water that flows from the tap. For birds (and greedy squirrels) that gather around the feeder to fill the air with songs and bright flashes of color. I added to the list the bright magenta of some crepe myrtles. All of them are in glorious bloom, putting out generous cone shaped displays of color.
Yes, the little things; clean laundry, companionship, the friendly wave from a neighbor or a visit with family. Sometimes we forget that the little things that make life palatable. What are you grateful for?
