Food for the Flock 26

January 3, 2018

The new year is here. It is less than a week old. Most people reflect on the past year and contemplate the new one. In my reading I found a few questions that I have tweaked for myself to reflect upon (during the upcoming storm when I think life will slow down for a moment). If you haven’t already done some reflection may I commend these to you.

  1. What was one of the moments I was most proud of last year? What does that tell me about how I spend my energy/time/money on in the coming year?

  2. Who enriched my life this past year in a big way? What did I learn from them? Who do I want to know better in the year ahead?

  3. It was a year of resistance for some people. What did I resist most effectively? What did I surrender to? (To clarify this a bit: think about racism, in equity, the treatment of women, children, and men, and your relationship with God).

  4. When was I most physically, spiritually and mentally joyful in 2017? How can I keep that alive in 2018?

  5. What is one question that I asked over and over again in the past year? How might I work toward transformation during 2018?

  6. What makes me despairing and what gives me hope these days?

I invite you to think holistically. How do these ruminations help us live into our baptism and new life in Christ?
