Mid-week Advent on Zoom

This is a season for hope and expectation, a time to prepare ourselves to celebrate the mystery of Christ’s presence among us as a babe in Bethlehem but also a time to prepare for Christ’s return at the end of time. While this is a penitential season, not unlike the penitential season of Lent, we use the color blue during Advent to emphasize that hope and expectation to which we hold.

To prepare ourselves fully for the coming of the Christ Child and the return of the same Christ when He comes again, we will have a midweek Vespers service each Wednesday evening during these four weeks. Our first Vespers service will therefore be on Wednesday 30 November beginning at 7pm. The service will be entirely on Zoom and will start at 7pm for each of the following Wednesdays. The service should take no longer than 30 minutes so we hope that you will join us for some additional time of prayer and reflection as we call upon God with that ancient phrase “Marana-tha” which means “Our Lord, Come.”
