About the event
This service has two purposes: to recognize our mortality and to confess our sins. The service is intended to focus our lives on the dual themes of sin and death in the light of God’s redeeming love in Jesus Christ. While the use of ashes is a sign of mortality and penance, it has significant history in Jesus and Christian worship. The imposition of ashes is a powerful nonverbal and experiential way of participating in the call to repentance and reconciliation. This day has roots in Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement for the Jewish community.
Registration is NOT necessary for this online service, but if you do register, you will receive reminder e-mails in your inbox!
